This was a great building week for us before we head into our first game week. We've been having great practices and are extremely happy with our second scrimmage against Lemoyne. Before I talk about the scrimmage, I would like to give you an idea of the teamwork put forth by the team. We have become experts in snow removal. We start out with half of the team warming up while the other half takes the formation of the snow train in a single file line. With each shovel slightly turned off to the side we walk closely behind one another pushing the snow. After half of the field is done we switch and warm up, while the other half of the team shovels. It is by far the best technique we have ever used and the field was finished in no time.
Now getting back to the scrimmage with Lemoyne. The Friday night before it snowed a few inches, so when we arrived there was still some snow and ice on the field. If there were enough shovels we would have got the snow train moving, but we only had a couple. With the combined efforts of both teams kicking the snow and ice around, and a little help from the sun, we were good to play. From the start we executed offensively and defensively and played a competitive game against a competitive team. We are very happy with the outcome of the scrimmage.
This is a crucial week for us as we head into our first game on Saturday. Like most other teams at this point in the year, we have some things to work and clean up before our first real go. We are playing Western New England College in Cross River, N.Y. at John Jay High School. We are looking forward to a great week of practice and our first test at 2pm on Saturday.
