Hey everyone. The lady pirates are back after a long, successful week. After our first blog we had time to enjoy our weekend due to the fact that the two away matches we were scheduled to play were canceled. After two days without scheduled practice we went back to the courts to get ready for our most challenging match so far against NAIA champion, Auburn Montgomery. After winning all three doubles we were confident going into the singles. We won five out of six singles. Sona Novakova, our No. 1 freshman, got her revenge against No.1 NAIA player Delia Sescioreanu whom she had lost to in the superbowl final last semester. "Even though I lost last time, I didn't think about the past and was able to focus and keep fighting for each point", said Novakova. The team and the coaches could not have been happier with our performance. After the effective day, we met up on the track to do our conditioning and then headed to the gym to do weight lifting. Since the coaches were on the road with the men's team, it was a little bit different not having them there to motivate us. However, I feel the girls did a great job of pushing each other. We had two matches in the next two days. One of them was against the Junior College Champion Hillsborough CC and todays match was against UNC Pembroke who are in our Peach Belt Conference . We completed the matches with 9:0 wins. Our next match is going to be on Sunday against Valdosta State University. We are all looking forward to this challenge.
I hope you enjoyed our second blog and were able to get a better view of our past week.
