Hey guys!
We missed last week's blog because we were off for spring break and nothing happened except that we all could get some rest from the first part of the semester. But now we are back after a disappointing week. We started practicing on Sunday, continued on Monday with an extremely difficult day of practices. On Tuesday we traveled to Francis Marion thinking we were ready to beat the Patriots, but it didn't go as well as we thought it was going to. We were struggling with doubles, but fortunately we won two out of three. Even though we won 7:2 at the end, we were not happy with our performance. The things we had been focusing on in practice did not show through in our match play. This is obviously very frustrating for the coaches and for us. So we went back to Savannah and had an even harder practice and the coaches challenged us both mentally and physically by putting us on the treadmill unexpectedly. The goal of this conditioning was to prepare us for the most challenging match of the season versus the Lynn University Fighting Knights.
On Thursday around 1 p.m. we hit the road to Boca Raton. After a long bus ride we were all ready to get some rest. While we were getting our beauty sleep the fire alarm in the hotel went off around midnight. Now thinking about it, maybe it was a bad sign for the upcoming battle.
The day of the match everyone felt good and confident. We started off with 3-0 after doubles. We kept the momentum going in the singles, but the Knights fought back after a 4-0 deficit and beat us in the deciding match 7:6 in the third set. The loss is disappointing for all of us, but it was a lesson and we look forward to a possible rematch at Nationals.
Goooo Pirates!
We'll be back next Friday hopefully with better news.
PS: hahhhh es mi sem lehetunk tokeletesek!!!!
