So I can't believe that it is the start of a new semester already! It seems like we just finished up finals and winter break flew by. I can say that this was a very busy winter break, though. Our team stayed here in Kirksville training for a week after finals, then went home for a week, then went down to Florida for a ten-day training trip, then headed back up to school only to travel to Lewis University to have a two-day meet against them this past Friday and Saturday! As you can imagine, it's nice to finally be back in one spot for a while.
The training trip was actually the most fun one we've had in my two and a half years here at Truman, and I think it was mostly due to the gorgeous weather we had! We were able to be out on the beach everyday inbetween practices, which made the trip much easier to get through. The practices were, of course, some of the hardest that we'll have all year, but our team really rallied together to (in the words of our coach, Mark) "get the job done." We also got to welcome in the New Year on the beach, and how many people get to say they did that?
The meet against Lewis was a pretty good one, although we are for sure a little rusty on our racing techniques since it's been about a month and a half since our last meet. Luckily, we have meets the next two weekends, so we have plenty of time to practice before Conference and Nationals! I think my favorite part about this meet was on Friday night after we were done cooling down we ate dinner with the Lewis swimmers. It was really fun actually getting to talk with the other team and hang out a little, instead of just seeing them on the pool deck.
Well, I think that's all for today. Classes start tomorrow (eek!) and I find that I have a TON of stuff to do today to prepare. This should be a tough semester for me, so I really have to get ready for it. I wish we could be on break for a while longer, but, unfortunately, it has to come to an end. 8( Good luck to all of you with the upcoming workload, and remember...summer will be here before we know it!
