Katie Mroz Blog

Hello, NCAA! My name is Katie Mroz and I hail from Libertyville, Illinois. I'm a sophomore at Emory University in Atlanta. We finally arrived back on campus the evening of  Jan. 11 after ten grueling days in Boca Raton, Florida for our winter training.

The Florida Atlantic University swim team offered their hospitality and the best time slot for practice allowing us to sleep in a little bit and still get the day at the beach. Two-a-days, weight training and dry-land, sixty people running around the local supermarket, digging huge holes at the beach in Fort Lauderdale, and avoiding jelly fish in the ocean sums up our trip in a few words. Practices were challenging and the sun was hot but the Emory swim and dive family made it through with smiles on our faces. We ended the week with a meet against the University of Tampa. They were very kind and actually thanked us for the coming to swim! We've already had a few practices back at home and are ready to engage in a few more weeks of intense training before tapering for conference. Until next time... Peace. Love. Swimming.

Katie,

Loved reading your blog! Sounds like a great trip. Our family knows all too well about digging holes in the sand. We do it every year! Blog some more!

Mrs. B

lol I love the supermarket invasion! We use to do that in Fort Lauderdale too--we had little kitchenettes in the hotel so we would buy in bulk and cook our own food a lot.
