Fun in the Sun

Hey all ! Laterza here. First and foremost Happy New Year!! My apologies for keeping you all waiting. The last few weeks we've had more on our plates then you could possibly imagine. For the rest of the team, I know going home was a real relief, and a chance to just blow off steam from finals. Everyone was really happy to finally go home and get to spend time with friends and family. For myself, I was just really looking forward to heading down to Florida. We reported back to campus the 26th at 5pm for practice. Lynzee and Erica's flights were delayed so we were 2 players short at practice. Running full court drills with only 9 people the day after Christmas wasn't exactly the best feeling in the world but we survived. The next day everyone was their and our preparation for the tournament began.
Miami was beautiful. The weather was perfect, never too warm or cold, and it was always sunny. We had a few hours to enjoy Miami and got a chance to go to South Beach. We all had a lot of fun relaxing on the beach and just walking around taking in the different culture. It was all well and good, but we knew we had business to attend too. Both games weren't easy and once again we were faced with a different types of challenges. Though we prevailed and won the tournament it was bittersweet. We knew we hadn't given it all we had, and did not play up to our full potentials. After the Georgia Southern game Coach Giorgis really brought us back to reality and let us know that in order for us to win come conference time we all needed to step up and contribute more..
Were only a few days into the new year and already we've had some of the best practices we've had all season. Our game against Rider this past Sunday was the first game we could say that we kept our momentum for both half's. It was a good start for us as we get into conference play. We know this is when it counts the most.
