Well here we are in the last week of March and we are seeing snowflakes on a daily basis. We recieved around 3 inches of rain earlier this week which took care of the rest of the snow. We started hitting outdoors but have been forced back inside due to cold temperatures. So we are hitting off mats inside, which isn't the greatest thing in the world, but we do alright.
My teamate, Joe Daly, already informed you all of the background of our school and our golf program. There is not much new here in regards to the advancement of our golf season. We are trying to be as patient as possible with the weather but our first tournament is only a little over two weeks away. We play a duel match against St. Cloud State on the 13th of April and then head to the Gustavus tournament the 20th and 21st.
As Daly said earlier, we are very excited for the upcoming spring and the chance to compete for a third straight National Championship. There are a lot of good teams as always, but our hopes and expectations are still high.
The team is looking very good and I am excited to see the underclassmen working so hard. They know there are still spots that are open for taking and if they do not grab one this spring, there will be 3 more opening next year with the departure of 3 seniors. When you live in Minnesota, there are limits to what you can do to prepare for the spring and this team is doing very well. We are getting in the weightroom on a daily basis and guys are working hard on their conditioning.
We also took our team picture the other day, which was in the snow like usual because the snow was everywhere. Guess thats just the "nature of the beast,"as our coach would say.
So for now, we will just watch the weather and hope for a turn-around. For all of you in the south, be thankful!
