Post Season!!

I'm checking in again, to update you guys on how we're doing so far.  Since the last time I got in touch with you guys we made it to the Championship game of our conference tournament, but unfortunately, we came up short to conference rival Johnson C. Smith by 7 points.  We are preparing now to go to the regional tournament, which I believe is in Pennsylvania this year. We are currently ranked 3rd in the Atlantic Region according to the latest poll that was issued on March 4th.  Other than that we're on spring break right now, taking it easy and just getting ready to make some noise and also make it to the big dance in Springfield, Mass. I will continue to keep you guys posted as the season rolls along.

Thanks and God Bless

CI's

It's that time of year again, CIAA Tournament.  We arived in Charlotte on Monday afternoon.  It has been a pretty relaxing couple of days.  Practices have been intense and I like the focus that all my teammates are exhibiting.  Our girls won last night by 1, against Livingstone.  They played hard overall, but have to correct some minor errors.  Today should be another light day, full of spectating.  I will talk to you tomorrow, before the game......

Regular Season comes to an end!!

What's up guys, I haven't been on in a while, but since then we had our winning streak snapped by the Bears of Shaw University. We bounced back and had back to back wins against St. Pauls and Lincoln (Pa.).  Our last game of the regular season was against Elizabeth City, and that game was televised. We lost that game but it was a learned experience and we know what we have to do next time.  Nevertheless, we finished up #1 in our conference, also the  CIAA Eastern Division Champs, #1 in the Atlantic Region and Top-25 in the NABC poll. I commend my brother Brandon and teammate Gregg Thondique for All-CIAA honors. We are in Charlotte, North Carolina now for the CIAA tournament and we are hoping to bring another CIAA Championship to Virginia Union. I will keep you guys updated through the tournament and our progress. Talk with you guys later.

God Bless

Catch Up Time!!!!

The last couple of weeks have taught the team much about ourselves.  Our winning streak came to an end by the hands of Shaw and ourselves.  That game still leaves a bad taste in my mouth, but all good things must come to an end.  We are learning how to play without key players and still win, including myself.

I missed our last game due to oral surgery.  It was kind of ironic that I picked Friday the 13th to get the surgery and missed Valentine's Day.  I still made it to the game on Valentine's Day evening to see us defeat Lincoln.  Mom and Kim, my girlfriend, made sure that I didn't speak to anyone during or after the game and I escaped the BARCO with now additional harm to my surgical wounds. They have been taking shifts on making sure that I follow all of the doctor's orders, so I can get back on the court as soon as possible.  There have been various visitors to see me while I was locked in the house.  I enjoyed the time with Trey Mines and AJ Pearson talking about life and basketball.  It always nice to know that people are there for me even when I'm not in my best health.  All of this bed rest is killing me and I cannot wait until I get a chance to eat some solid food.  I did, however, find something that I am borderline addicted to now.  Strawberry Apple Sauce!!!!! I don't know how this didn't come up sooner, because I love strawberries and apple sauce.

Our last game is at Elizabeth City State on Saturday.  I am trying to recover in time to make this game.  If I can't then I will definitely be ready for the CIAA Tournament.  It has been a great season for us and we have surprised a countless amount of people.  This is just the beginning and we have team goals that we have to accomplish before the season ends.  Until then we will see what happens.  God Bless and be safe!!!!

PS - Am I the only person to see Allen Iverson cut his braids off?  TIME FOR CHANGE!!!!! OBAMA '09!!!!!

Long Time, No Dialogue!!!!

I know that I haven't checked in for a while, but I'm back.  We are still on our winning streak, and our most recent win came in overtime against Shaw.  It was a tough game, but we knew that it was going to be like that from the beginning.  We came together as a team and pulled out another win on the road, even though we need the extra 5 minutes.  We travel to Livingstone tomorrow for another tough road game, but we are more than prepared to be competitive.  Until then, I will talk to you all later.  God Bless!!!!

Crunch Time!

We had a tough game the tuesday night against Shaw University.  We went into overtime, but we pulled out another win to keep our winning streak alive.  We hit 11 out of 12 free throws to put the game away for good, we have another game tomorrow night against Livingstone College and then Saturday against St. Augustines College.  Other than the basketball side of life I have just been relaxing and taking it easy to keep my body well rested. School is going well also keeping up my grades and everything else.  I'm going to go get some more rest now, so I will chat with you guys later, be safe and God bless.

Yours in Christ,

And the Tradition continues!!!

We played against Virginia State yesterday for the annual Freedom Classic game at the Richmond Coliseum and we came out victorious, it was a struggle for us through some parts of the game but we managed to keep our composure and pull off another CIAA contest win.  Again it took a total team effort to contribute to the victory. Today we have another day off for Martin Luther King Jr's. birthday, we'll be back in full force ready to work tomorrow. We have  11 more regular season games so we have to keep working hard so we can get the job done.  I'll keep you guys updated as the season goes on.

Be Blessed,

Winning streak!

We are on a 6 game winning streak right now, we play Livingstone College tomorrow at home again, another CIAA contender.  We are playing together as a team even more so now, as long as we keep it up we will have another long and prosperous season.  This Sunday, we play our rival school in Virginia State for the annual Freedom Classic game.  That is the most sought after game in the regular season. We plan to keep the streak going starting tomorrow night. I'm in study hall tonight for the second time for the new semester, I will chat with you guys later.

God Bless,

Study Hall, AGAIN!!!

We started our first study hall of the new year tonight.  Don't ask me what happened to UNC on Sunday night, because I honestly don't know.  Wake Forest played an incredible game.  Our next game is on Thursday, so we are focusing most of our practice time on staying in shape and defense.  Tonight is Tuesday, so it's B Dub's (Buffalo Wild Wings) tonight!!!!  I will check in later.

3 GAMES, 1 WEEK

We went 3-0 this week.  My toughest game was Saint Paul's.  I didn't do as well as I should have, scoring wise, but I contributed in other ways.  We have today off and class in the morning.  I'm trying to enjoy any kind of rest possible, because we have two tough games this week.  I will check back in later.  UNC is playing!!!!
