Drexel athletics competes in the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) and has over 450 student-athletes compete in 18 Division I NCAA sports in the Colonial Athletic Association.

The Drexel athletic department has hosted a number of major events, including the 2008 Table Tennis Olympic Trials, the 2012 NCAA Lacrosse Quarterfinals, the first round of the 2012 Men’s Soccer NCAA Tournament and is currently the home of the U.S. Squash Open.

Drexel athletics was named No. 1 in the nation in gender equity by U.S. News and World Report and the Pennsylvania Law Project listed Drexel as one of the top-five athletic programs in the state in terms of gender equity. Championships Travel & Tourism

Location
Philadelphia is a two-hour drive from New York City, two-and-a-half hours from Washington, D.C. and 45 minutes from Atlantic City, with convenient access to the Pennsylvania Turnpike, I-76, I-95 and the New Jersey Turnpike. One-quarter of the United States population lives within a five-hour drive of Center City Philadelphia.

The city is a 90-minute flight or a one-day drive from Toronto (880 kilometers), Ottawa (772 kilometers) and Montreal (745 kilometers). There are more than 35 flights per week from these cities and convenient connections from all other major Canadian cities.

Air Transportation
Philadelphia International Airport, located about seven miles from Center City, is a base for around 30 carriers (including several discount carriers such as Southwest Airlines and Frontier) that offer 700 daily nonstop flights to more than 120 domestic and international cities.

Rail Transportation
Amtrak’s 30th Street Station is a major East Coast hub, with trains that run along the northeast corridor serving Boston (six-hour commute), New York (under 90 minutes), Baltimore (90 minutes) and Washington, DC (two hours).

City Transportation
Thanks to founder William Penn, Center City has an easy-to-follow grid street design, making it a walkable city. Visitors can flag down taxis at the airport, train stations, hotels, the Independence Visitor Center and throughout Center City. Methods of public transportation:

• Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority (SEPTA), a vast network of bus, subway and trolley commuter services in the city and the suburbs. The SEPTA Airport Rail Line connects the airport with Center City.
• The Port Authority Transit Corporation (PATCO Hi-Speedline) is an easy way to travel from southern New Jersey to Center City Philadelphia.

Acclaimed Restaurants
Philadelphia is a true diner’s destination. Bon Appétit magazine said “The City of Brotherly Love has become an urban culinary mecca, with good eating as much of a draw as the Liberty Bell, the Rocky Balboa statue, and the diverse culture.”

Dining trends throughout the region that make Philadelphia such a well-recognized foodie town include: the bring-your-own-bottle (BYOB) craze; outdoor cafes; kitchens using locally grown, farm-fresh ingredients; couples in the kitchen; and the dining empires of prolific restaurateurs Stephen Starr and Jose Garces.

Shops
Philadelphia neighborhoods and malls offer a wealth of diverse shopping experiences, from independent boutiques and upscale shops on big and little streets in Center City and in the vast King of Prussia Mall, to outlet stores and discount malls such as Franklin Mills. The NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships is affordable, fun and the opportunity to see the best college lacrosse in the country. Selection Process
The Divisions I, II and III Men’s Lacrosse Committees will conduct selections for the 2013 NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships on Sunday, May 5. The Division I show will air on ESPNU, while the Division II and Division III selection shows will be webstreamed on NCAA.com. Times for the shows will be announced at a later date.

Division I features a 16-team bracket. New this year, Division II will be an eight-team bracket (formerly four-team). Division III is a 29-team bracket.

Division I

First Round
First round of competition for Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship will be May 11 and 12 on TBD campus sites.

Quarterfinals (Pre-determined)
Quarterfinals will be held May 18 and 19. The two pre-determined sites are Capital One Field at Byrd Stadium in College Park, Md., and Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. Each quarterfinal winner will advance to semifinal action of the 2013 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship in Philadelphia, Pa., on May 25.

Division II
First round of competition will be May 11 on TBD campus sites.

Semifinals will happen May 19 on TBD campus sites. Semifinal winners will advance to the championship in Philadelphia, Pa., on May 26.

Division III
First round of competition will be May 8 on TBD campus sites.

Second round of competition will be May 11 on TBD campus sites.

Quarterfinal action will take place May 15 on TBD campus sites.

Semifinals will be May 19 on TBD campus sites. Semifinal winners will move on to the championship game in Philadelphia, Pa., on May 26.

Championship
The 2013 NCAA Divisions I, II, III Men’s Lacrosse Championship will be held at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pa. Division I quarterfinal winners will compete in semifinal matches held May 25. The Division II and Division III national championship games will be conducted on May 26, and the national championship match of the NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championship will be played May 27.

Lincoln Financial Field

Lincoln Financial Field, home of the 2013 Men’s Lacrosse Championships, is a world-class event facility located in the heart of Philadelphia.

The following items are not permissible during the championships:

• Bags larger than 12”x12”x12”.

• Bottles, cans and beverage containers of any kind are prohibited. Exceptions will be made for those with medical requirements and/or special needs.

• Video equipment may not be brought into the stadium by fans.

• Artificial noisemakers, air horns, electronic instruments, etc. are not permissible.

• Large signs, flags and banners are not allowed. Items that can be held by one individual reflect good sportsmanship and do not block the view of other fans may be permitted.
