The second day of elimination games saw the two teams that lost in last night's winner's bracket collect wins as SUNY Cortland and Heidelberg each advanced to Monday's semifinal round with wins at the NCAA Division III Baseball Championships.

Cortland started the day making quick work of Johns Hopkins, 23-8, while Heidelberg advanced with an 8-3 win over the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Johns Hopkins and Stevens Point were eliminated from the tournament.

Heidelberg's pitching staff kept UW-Stevens Point batters off balance allowing just eight hits on the way to an 8-3 victory.

Nathan James started the game for Heidelberg (42-7) and threw seven innings, giving up eight hits but allowing just one earned run and struck out six.

Sylvester Nino came on in relief to throw two hitless innings and secure the win.

Heidelberg took the lead in the second inning, scoring three runs as Elvin Williams and Ricardo Lizcano collected RBI singles. Williams also scored an unearned run in the inning.

The Student Princes added four more runs in the fifth, highlighted by an Andrew Buelow two-RBI single to center field.

Lizcano led Heidelberg from the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI. Williams added a 2-for-3 performance with two runs scored and two RBI.

Sam Spurney was the leading hitter for the Pointers, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.
