Fullerton Downs Oklahoma State

STILLWATER, Okla. - Tony Harkey drove in four and Jared Clark went 5-for-5 as No. 6 Cal State Fullerton beat No. 19 Oklahoma State, 8-4, Friday night in the second game of a day-night doubleheader for Fullerton at Reynolds Field at the Oklahoma State Tournament.
The Titans improve to 12-2 on the year and win their 11th straight game. It is also the Titans' sixth straight win on their current road trip through The South and the second win over a ranked team this week.. The Cowboys fall to 11-3.
The Titans scored six runs, five earned off All-American Andrew Oliver (3-1) who was tagged with his first loss of the year. The southpaw worked seven innings and struck out eight while surrendering nine of the Titans' 14 hits on the night.
Daniel Renken (3-0) picked up the win after going five complete innings giving up three runs on seven hits while walking four and striking out four. Renken handed the ball to Nick Ramirez, who was also doubling as the Titans' designated hitter. The southpaw worked 3.1 innings and came out with two outs remaining in the ninth.
Michael Morrison recorded the final two outs of the game, one of which was a strikeout, finishing his sixth straight game without allowing a run.
The Titans got on the board early, jumping out to a 1-0 lead in the second. Clark doubled down the line in left to open up the frame, and came around to score on the first of two of Harkey hits on the night. Harkey was making his first start of the year in left field.
Harkey was again in the middle of the Titan scoring in the fourth, as his bloop single drove in two to give the Titans a 4-0 lead. Harkeys hit followed an RBI-double by Ramirez.
The Cowboys got on the board in the bottom of the fouth as Michael Dabbs hit one of three Oklahoma State round-trippers. The right fielder's home run cut the Titan lead in half at 4-2 after four complete innings. The other two shots by Tyrone Hambly (6th inning) Neil Medchill (9th inning) were solo shots off Ramirez.
The Titans scored two more times in the top of the sixth one on Harkey's bases-loaded sacrifice bunt, another as he ran into the second baseman Davis Duran covering first, knocking the ball from the fielder's glove. Clark came around to score on Duran's error to extend Fullerton's lead to 6-2.
Fullerton added a pair of insurance runs in the top of the ninth. Gary Brown and Josh Fellhauer picked up RBI-singles to give the Titans a five-run lead. With the bases loaded and two outs, Fellhauer was retired at the plate trying to steal home, ending the Titans' ninth-inning rally.
Fellhauer finished with three hits, Harkey with two. Medchill, Dabs and Kevin David had multi-hit games for Oklahoma State.
Earlier in the day, Cal State Fullerton defeated Rhode Island, 17-3 , in the first game of the Oklahoma State Tourney.
