Two of hottest teams in nation collide in ranked clash
No. 7 North Georgia at No. 17 UNC Pembroke
UNC Pembroke will look to extend its school-record 12-game winning streak in a Peach Belt Conference opening series against North Georgia, which enters the weekend with an 8-1 mark. The ultra-competitive PBC has six teams ranked in the Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 30. The Saints have four hitters batting over .400 entering the weekend, led by Troy Snitker’s .462 average and team-high 11 RBI. The UNCP pitching staff boasts a 1.73 ERA entering the weekend, while the Braves’ offense is hitting .337 this season.

Wingate at No. 13 Tusculum
Tusculum is off to its best start in school history at 9-1 and has won three games in a row entering a South Atlantic Conference series against defending league champion Wingate. The Bulldogs are looking to bounce back from Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep by No. 9 Mount Olive. The Pioneers are batting a stellar .377 as a team and scoring 11.4 runs per game. Wingate pitcher Chris Nelson has struck out 21 batters in 15.2 IP en route to a 2-0 record and 1.72 ERA.

No. 15 Erskine at Limestone
Limestone enters this Carolinas Conference opener on a three-game winning streak, while Erskine has yet to lose a game. David Christy and Jake Rierson are both batting .400 for a Saints’ offense that is scoring 11.7 runs per game, while the team’s top three starters are a combined 5-0 this season. The Flying Fleet is batting .354 as a team, while the pitching staff has posted an outstanding 2.66 ERA.
