UW-Stevens Point rolls in home state
Kobak posts five RBIs in Game 2 to lead Pointer offense
MADISON, Wis. – Ninth-ranked UW-Stevens Point broke out the bats in its Wisconsin debut Wednesday afternoon, scoring 33 runs in a two game sweep of Edgewood, winning by scores of 14-4 and 19-1. Both games went just seven innings.
The Pointers tallied five runs in the first and tacked on three in the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to cruise to the 10-run victory.
Scott Williams went the distance for the Pointers, throwing seven innings of seven-hit ball, allowing four runs with three earned while striking out eight.
Max Mittelstaedt led the way offensively with three hits while Justin Jirschele scored four runs and had a team-high three RBIs. Jared Surman, Mittelstaedt, Kevin Thomas and Steve Considine each tallied two RBI.
In game two, the offense for the Pointers stayed red hot, posting a six-run sixth inning to add to a 10-run advantage.
Joel Delorit tallied the victory for the Pointers, allowing just three hits in five innings of work, recording three strikeouts. Cain Trunkel pitched the sixth inning in relief, allowing Edgewood’s only run.
Cody Koback led the way offensively finishing the game 3 for 6 with five RBIs while Luke Behm added three RBIs after going 2 for 2 with two doubles.
