Stanford rolls past Kansas State
Appel strikes out eight in complete-game regional victory
FULLERTON, Calif. -- Mark Appel struck out eight in a complete game and Stanford routed Kansas State 10-3 on Friday in the first game of the NCAA Fullerton Regional.

Appel (6-6) limited the Wildcats to seven hits.
Lonnie Kauppila was 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Cardinal (33-20).
Stanford shortstop Kenny Diekroeger hit a fly ball that landed in right-center for an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning against Kyle Hunter (5-5). Stanford scored two more runs in the third on singles by Brian Ragira and Lonnie Kauppila.
Kansas State dropped to 36-24.
