UConn cruises past Sacred Heart
Huskies stay alive, pound in-state rival 13-3 in Clemson Regional
CLEMSON, S.C. -- Connecticut raced to an early 10-run lead and coasted to a 13-3 victory against Sacred Heart in an elimination game Saturday at the Clemson Regional.
Ryan Fuller had four hits for the Huskies (42-18-1), and Pat Butler (3-1) got the victory in relief. The Huskies had 18 hits against four Sacred Heart pitchers.
UConn knocked out Sacred Heart starter Nick Leiningen (7-4) with five runs in the second inning and three more in the third. The Pioneers (34-23) scored their three runs in the fourth.
