“Needless to say, Peter is very excited, the players are excited, and the coaching staff is excited to have a guy of his quality,” head coach Jim Morris said.

O’Brien transferred to Miami after an impressive three-year career with Bethune-Cookman. The Miami Gardens, Fla. native finished his junior campaign with a .304 batting average, 14 home runs and 69 runs batted in. O’Brien, who was named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Year in 2010, earned Freshman All-American honors from Louisville Slugger in 2009.

“We expect him to be a great addition to our team,” Coach Morris said. “We’re ready to get this season started.”
