Neumann comes back to upset Kean
Callan delivers game-winning hit in 11th inning for Knights
UNION, N.J. -– Neumann came from behind to beat No. 3 Kean University 4-3 in 11 innings Friday afternoon.
The Knights pulled the upset thanks Bobby Callan's single to left field which brought home Eric Silakowski with the game-winning run.
Erik Klimoff would get the save.
The Knights got off to a good start. Will Flores hit a double to right center field, then scored the first run of the game off a passed ball in the first inning.
Kean tied the score at one in the fourth before taking the lead in the sixth, as they scored two additional runsto make the score 3-1.
Neumann had a great response in the seventh inning. Buddy Elgin hit a triple to left center field to lead off the inning. Marty Sessa singled to center field, bringing in Elgin to score. Flores stepped up to the plate and deliver a triple, bringing home Sessa to tie the score at three.
Both teams could not take advantage of runners in scoring position for the eighth inning.
Silakowski went to first base on a walk. Then he advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Elgin grounded out and Silakowski is advanced to third base. Then connected on a hit to left field, driving in Silakowski to give Newmann the lead 4-3.
Klimoff entered the game in the eleventh inning and finished Kean with three quick outs.
Flores went three for five and Smith pitched five and a third innings.
