Pointers hand Roadrunners first loss of season

AUBURNDALE, Fla. – Wisconsin-Stevens Point tallied five runs on Wednesday as the sixth-ranked Pointers handed 24th-ranked Ramapo a 5-2 defeat at Lake Myrtle Field.

After getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the first, the Pointers’ bats brought in the games first runs in the second, as a Ryan Schilter doubled to lead off the inning and came around to score on a Bryan Clark double. Bobby Gregorich doubled later in the inning to drive in Gregorich.

The Pointers added another run in the third when Justin Jirschele scored on another Schilter double. Runs also came across in both the fourth and fifth innings thanks to RBIs from Dan Douglas and Clark.

JP Feyereisen secured the victory, his first of the season, throwing four solid innings in relief of starter Zach Wendorf. Brad Stroik finished the final five innings, allowing just three hits and recorded three strikeouts.

Ramapo (10-1) pitcher Walker Larson suffered the loss, his first of the appearance, allowing five runs, four earned, in 4.2 innings of work.
