Lindenwood shocks Central Missouri
Griffin collects eight save of the season in Lions win
WARRENSBURG, Mo. -- Lindenwood bearned a series split with No. 4 Central Missouri after picking up a 5-3 victory in the finale on Saturday afternoon.
Brian Hruby picked up the victory after pitching 5 1/3 innings against the Mules and allowing seven hits and three runs. Ryan Griffin then came in relief and got the final 11 outs for his eighth save of the season. He allowed just one hit and no runs.
Lindenwood trailed 3-2 after two innings, but took the lead for good in the top of the third. Wade Rothermich drew a walk to open the inning and Dylan Lowery reached on a bunt single. Matt Tellor then drove in one run with a RBI double. Two batters later, Mike Wilson drove in the game-winning run with a single, and Jason Striegel added an RBI on a sacrifice bunt.
Lowery ended the day with three hits and Wilson had two. Mario Parra had two RBIs on a second-inning single. The first five batters in Lindenwood's lineup all scored once.
Lindenwood went 2-2 against the top team in the MIAA and is now 20-18 on the season. The Lions will be in action again next Saturday with a doubleheader at Robert Morris-Springfield.
