FLORIDA STATE QUICK HITS ...
► Florida State is in its 21st trip to Omaha, the most among this year's field. The 21 appearances are the most of any team that has not won a championship. The Seminoles have finished runner-up on three occasions.

► FSU lost its fourth consecutive CWS opener on Friday. The Seminoles have not won their first game in Omaha since 1999 -- a 7-3 victory against Texas A&M.

► Seminoles center fielder James Ramsey walked twice on Friday, giving him nine walks in six NCAA tournament games this year. Ramsey -- 62 walks -- is one of three Florida State players with at least 58 walks this season.

► FSU closer Robert Benincasa had not allowed an earned run in 13 of his past 14 outings prior to the Arizona contest, in which he allowed the go-ahead run in the top of the 12th. Benincasa’s four inning effort was a season-high. It was his fourth appearance this season of at least two innings and first since April 22.

STONY BROOK QUICK HITS ...
► Friday's loss by Stony Brook snapped a two-game win streak by first time CWS qualifiers, as TCU (2010) and Vanderbilt (2011) had both earned victories. Prior to TCU’s win in 2010, the previous 10 teams had lost their CWS debut.

► Stony Brook, which was second nationally in batting average and first in hits, was held to five hits vs. UCLA. It was the Seawolves lowest hit total since being held to three hits at Holy Cross on March 25.

► SBU, which was fourth nationally in runs scored, was held to one run against UCLA, its lowest total since scoring one run against Binghamton on May 5. Entering the CWS, Stony Brook was hitting .321 and averaging eight runs per game.

► Stony Brook hasn't lost two games in a row since March 10-11 against Kansas and Minnesota. Since then, it has outscored opponents 63-19 in the game following a loss.
