Baker's 7.2 innings on the hill, Killary's three hits propel Rhodes past Millsaps
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Led by senior right-hander Jackson Baker's 7.2 dominant innings, Rhodes defeated No. 23 Millsaps 11-5 at Stauffer Field.
Millsaps jumped out to an early 4-2 lead after two innings, but Rhodes answered with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to take a 5-4 lead.
The Lynx added two runs in each of the next three innings, and Millsaps notched a single run in the top of the eighth for the 11-5 final. Baker picked up the win for the Lynx, as Rhodes improved to 19-17 on the year.
Baker allowed eight hits, five runs (three earned), while walking four, and striking out five. With the victory, Baker is now 7-4 on the year.
Senior righty Stuart Voges relieved Baker with two outs in the top of the eighth, and only needed two pitches to end Millsaps' threat. Junior lefty Max Halasz pitched the ninth for the Lynx, allowing one hit.
Rhodes turned three double plays in the game.
The Lynx offense was paced by senior first baseman Matt Killary, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs. He scored twice and walked once. Senior left fieder Channing Ardnt went 2-for-4 with a double, run scored, drove in a run and walked once. Senior shortstop Lynden Pindling went 2-for-5, scored twice and stole four bases. Junior right fielder Patrick Kilkenny finished 2-for-5 with two runs scored. Senior catcher Matt Shaw ended the game 1-for-2 with an RBI. Sophomore third baseman Josh Keen scored three times while junior Strother White had a pinch-hit two-run double in the bottom of the seventh.
