Johnson's two HRs highlight Louisville's opening-round win vs. Bowling Green
LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville's Coco Johnson hit two home runs and the Cardinals beat Bowling Green 8-3 in the NCAA Louisville Regional on Friday.
The Cardinals (47-12) were locked in a 1-1 game when a 25-minute rain delay interrupted the bottom of the third inning.
Once play resumed, a two-out throwing error by shortstop Brian Bien allowed Johnson to come to the plate and hit his second home run of the night.
Louisville then took command of the game with a four-run fifth inning. The run support was more than enough for Louisville starting pitcher Chad Green, who gave up five hits and three runs in seven innings.
Johnson finished 3-for-4, adding an infield single in the fifth. He also scored three runs and had a stolen base.
