Brown's walk caps four-run ninth inning rally for Troy to eliminate Alabama
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Brandon Brown walked with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth inning, capping a four-run rally as Troy eliminated Alabama 9-8 Sunday in the Tallahassee regional.
The Trojans need to beat Florida State twice to advance to next week's NCAA best-of-three super regionals. Florida State (46-15) can capture the tournament with a win Sunday night. A Troy win would force an elimination game Monday.
Alabama closer Ray Castillo (2-3) walked three batters, hit two others and gave up two hits while getting just one out.
Kyle Brown's two-run double got Troy within 8-7 and Matt Howard's single drove in the tying run. Jacob Nixon was hit by a pitch to load the bases, setting up the winning walk.
Jeremy McGowan (2-0) got the final four outs.
Troy (42-19) defeated Alabama 5-2 in Friday's opening round.
Chance Vincent had three hits for Alabama (35-28) in its final game.
