William & Mary eliminates Ole Miss from Raleigh Regional with 4-1 victory
RALEIGH, N.C. -- Jackson Shaver drove in two runs and William & Mary beat Mississippi 4-1 Sunday, eliminating the Rebels from the Raleigh Regional.
Ryan Lindemuth and Ryan Hissey each had RBIs for the third-seeded Tribe (39-23).
They beat second-seeded Ole Miss (38-24) for the second time in three days and advanced to play top-seeded NC State. Brett Koehler (7-5) allowed seven hits with five strikeouts in his first win since May 10.
Shaver gave William & Mary the lead for good with his two-run single off Sam Smith (3-1) in the fourth to make it 3-1.
It came a half-inning after Ole Miss tied it at one when Austin Anderson scored on Preston Overbey's double-play groundout.
Hissey drove in an insurance run in the sixth. Lindemuth's RBI double in the first gave the Tribe the early lead.
