LSU came into Omaha as one of the best defensive teams in the country, with a .980 fielding percentage which was ranked fifth before Sunday. That didn't show against UCLA. Two unearned runs beat them thanks to two separate errors, the most important came in the eighth inning when star freshman shortstop booted a routine ground ball hit by Eric Filia with two outs and a runner on second to allow the eventual winning run to score. For Bregman, it was his fourth error in six NCAA tournament games and 17th on the season.

Adam Plutko | UCLA | P

Adam Plutko has been a bulldog for UCLA during his Bruins' career, especially in the NCAA tournament. He improved to 6-0 in his postseason career after allowing just one run and four hits in seven innings of work. This year alone he is 2-0 and has allowd just two earned runs in 21 innings. Plutko moved to 9-3 this year thanks to the unearned run the Bruins scored in the top of the eighth inning.

UCLA's Christoph Bono scored the game-winning run on an error committed by LSU's Alex Bregman in the eighth inning.

"We decided to take a gamble there and go with the hit and run and Raph [Rhymes] hit into some bad luck. He hit it so hard they got the force out before Mason [Katz] could get there and turned the double play. I gambled and we came up snake eyes. I was hoping we could end up with a big inning out of it."
