|Pepper: Virginia and Vanderbilt met in last year's College World Series Finals. This year's rematch is only the third time in two teams have met in the College World Series Finals in back-to-back years (Oregon State vs. North Carolina in 2006-07, and Southern California vs. Arizona State in 1972-73). Both Oregon State and Southern California repeated as champions.
