No. 1 Wooster escapes against Baruch
Wildcats nearly knock off top-ranked Fighting Scots, fall 79-77
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Baruch fell to top-ranked Wooster 79-77 on Sunday afternoon at the Bahamas House Shootout.
Arki Wisnu had a team-high 18 points in 18 minutes off the bench to give the Fighting Scots (13-0) all they could handle in a game that featured 14 ties and 12 lead changes.
The Bearcats (6-5) had a four-point advantage with two minutes remaining, but Wooster rallied to take a two point lead late in the game. The Bearcats had the final shot, but could not connect to suffer their second loss of the season to a top-10 team.
Baruch shot 47 percent for the game, including 69 percent during the second half, to almost pull off the upset against an undefeated opponent that had won all of its games this season by an average of 18 points.
Both teams took care of the basketball (Wooster 10 turnovers, Baruch nine), and shot the ball well from three-point range (Baruch 10 of 22, Wooster 11 of 21).
Ian Franks and Justin Hallowell led Wooster with 25 points each, while Nathan Balch finished with 11 points. Hallowell hit seven of 10 3-point attempts.
Lionel Hilaire added 17 points and six assists for Baruch. Chris Beauchamp and Sean Loftus finished with 13 points.
