IOWA CITY, Iowa — Indiana sophomore guard Verdell Jones III is out indefinitely with inflammation in his right knee.

Jones has started 17 games this season and scored 15 points in a 69-60 loss at Wisconsin on Thursday night. But freshman Will Sheehey got his first career start in place of Jones in Sunday’s game at Iowa.

Jones’ injury is the second major blow to Indiana’s backcourt in the past eight days.

Sophomore Maurice Creek is also out indefinitely after fracturing his right knee in a win over Michigan on Jan. 15. Creek had surgery Thursday to fix the stress fracture.
