AIKEN, S.C. -- USC Aiken continued its home regular season dominance over rival and nationally third-ranked Augusta State on Wednesday evening in a 74-62 Peach Belt Conference victory against the Jaguars at the Convocation Center.

In a battle of regionally-ranked squads in the NCAA Division II Southeast region, the regionally seventh-ranked Pacers knocked off the regionally second-ranked Jaguars to improve to 12-7 overall (6-6 PBC).

Augusta State with the loss dropped to 19-2 overall (9-2 PBC).

USC Aiken has now claimed all the games at home in the series since the opening of the Convocation Center prior to the start of the 2007-08 season. Augusta State has been ranked in the top 10 in each Pacer victory.

The Pacers are now 3-1 against ranked opposition in 2010-11. The Pacers are 2-0 against top five opposition as they also bested fifth-ranked Florida Southern, 77-75, in Lakeland, Fla. on Nov. 20, 2010.

The Pacers dominated Wednesday's victory basically from start to finish. Augusta State's largest lead of the game came with less than 30 seconds gone off the game clock at 2-0.

From there the Pacers would take over, going up by as many as 17 points in the second half. The two teams were an even 34-34 in the second stanza, but in the end USC Aiken's 12-point 40-28 lead at halftime was the difference.

USC Aiken concluded Wednesday's win over Augusta State shooting 56 percent (28 of 50). The Pacer defense in turn held the Jaguars to just 35.3 percent (18 for 51) shooting as a team. The national leader in blocks, USC Aiken finished Wednesday's win with nine total blocks as a team.

Both teams shot well from the free throw line with USC Aiken shooting 72.2 percent (13 for 18) and the Jaguars shooting 88.9 percent (24 of 27).

Alvin Brown was once again the top performer for the Pacers as he almost acquired his second straight home triple-double. Brown finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds to go along with his seven blocks. He obtained half of his 10 boards on the offensive glass.

Fellow frontcourt mate Kevin Willis was almost equally proficient down low, ending his night with 15 points and five rebounds. He also had a block.

Byron Faison was the final Pacer in double figures. Faison had 11 points and four assists.

Pacer point guard Re'mon Nelson did not reach double figures in scoring, but he was able to deal out nine assists.

Augusta State had two players in double figures with George Johnson netting 15 and Franck Ndongo ending his night with 11 total points.

The Pacers will next play host to Flagler on Monday, Feb. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
