Pointers win battle of ranked teams
Pointers use late 10-1 run to edge past No. 20 Ramapo

LAS VEGAS -- Jerrel Harris scored a team-high 22 points and Nick Krull added a team-high 10 rebounds as fourth-ranked UW-Stevens Point used a 15-5 second half run to defeat No. 20 Ramapo (N.J.) College 85-74 on Monday evening at the D3hoops.com Classic.
The Pointers led by as many as six points in the game’s opening half until the Roadrunners tied the game at 14. UW-Stevens Point then built an eight-point lead, 24-16, with 7:57 remaining before intermission.
The Pointers answered with a run of their own and turned it into a three-point edge at the half, 36-33.
In the second half, the teams traded the lead five times. Tied at 63-63 with 5:42 remaining, the Pointers went on a 10-1 run to open a nine-point advantage and never looked back.
Harris notched four steals and three assists to go along with his team-high scoring effort. He led a quartet scoring in double figures including Tyler Tillema’s 16 points, Louis Hurd’s 13 and Scott Hoelzel’s 10.
Ramapo’s Ahmad Hassan led all scorers with 30 points, including 12 free throws and four 3-pointers.
