EVANSVILLE, Ind. — No. 2 Southern Indiana was dealt its first loss of the season by Missouri S&T 62-55 on Thursday night at the Physical Activities Center. USI falls to 10-1 overall and 2-1 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T improves to 2-10, 1-3 GLVC.

The Screaming Eagles looked to have everything their way early in the first half, jumping out to a 12-0 lead in the first four minutes and shooting 75 percent. USI would go on to extend the lead to as many as 18 points at 26-8 when Missouri S&T began to whittle away at the margin.
The Miners dug themselves out of the 18-point deficit by the end of the first half with a 13-2 run, but the Eagles went into the intermission with a 28-21 lead.
In the second half, USI pushed the lead back to 10 points twice before Missouri S&T launched a 16-5 run to take its first lead of the game at 43-42 with 8:15 to play. The Eagles would regain the lead only once more in the final eight minutes at 52-51.
After starting the game 6-of-8 from the field, the Eagles struggled to find the basket. USI shot only 32.5 percent (14-43) for the remainder of the game and 39.2 percent (20-51) overall. The squad also had trouble at the line, hitting 13-of-24 from the free throw line.
In the scoring column, senior forward Isaac McClure led the Eagles with a game-high 17 points in his first start of the season. Sophomore forward Taylor Wischmeier followed with 16 points and had a team-high seven rebounds.
