Senior forward Tyler Zeller of North Carolina and junior forward Elena Delle Donne Delaware head the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Division I Men’s and Women’s Basketball Teams, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

Zeller and Delle Donne have been chosen as the winners of the Academic All-America of the Year award for the men’s and women’s basketball, respectively.

CoSIDA named men’s and women’s teams in all three NCAA divisions. The Academic All-America of the Year selections in Division II are seniors Nick Trull of Anderson (S.C.) and Michelle McDonald of Winona State.

In Division III, the Academic All-America of the Year choices are senior forward Aris Wurtz of Ripon and senior center Carol Cayo of Milwaukee School of Engineering.

It is the first time in the 50-year history of the program that All-America teams have been named in each division. Previously, teams were separated into university (Division I) and college (Divisions II and III and NAIA) divisions. But in conjunction with sponsorship from Capital One, which became the rights holder for the All-America program in December 2010, and support from the Divisions II and III governance structures, CoSIDA decided to establish a new system beginning this year.
