Jackie Carmichael finished the season with double-digit scoring in each of the last six games and 10 out of the last 11 in helping the Redbirds. Carmichael recorded 15 double-doubles, which ranked 21st in the nation last year and was ranked 25th in rebounding nationally.

Doug McDermott was the first sophomore in league history to be named MVC Player of the Year, and was the first Creighton player to be named a first-team All-American. He joined Kevin Durant as the nation’s only players since 1996-97 with 800-plus points, 280-plus rebounds and 50-plus three-pointers in a season. McDermott has now set school records for points by a freshman and by a sophomore. His 801 points ranked third in MVC history by any sophomore, trailing only Oscar Robertson and Larry Bird.

Colt Ryan led Evansville and was second in the Missouri Valley averaging 20.5 points per game, a total that was also 11th in the nation. Ryan also tallied a team-high 60 steals, which was second in the MVC.
