BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Campbell says Robbie Laing is out as men’s basketball coach.

The school said Monday that Laing would not return next season as the Camels’ coach.

The 55-year-old Laing was 114-185 in 10 seasons in Buies Creek and helped guide the Camels’ move from the Atlantic Sun to the Big South.

Campbell went 13-20 this season and finished tied for third in the league’s North Division with a 7-9 conference record. The Camels lost four of five to end the season, their eighth losing season under him.

Athletic director Bob Roller says Laing ”helped transform Campbell basketball” into a competitive program.

Laing’s best season was in 2009-10 when the Camels went 19-11 and shared the A-Sun regular-season championship.

The school says its search for a new coach will begin immediately.
