2014 Men’s Basketball
Championship
In 1983, only diehard Wolfpack fans expected Jim Valvano’s NC State team to defeat Houston for the national championship. Not only did they do that, but the Wolfpack got seven of its final nine wins despite trailing with just a minute remaining. The film of Valvano running around the court after the game looking for someone to hug is one of the most iconic images in the history of the NCAA Tournament.
