Boston College 86, St. Joseph's 59 -- Box Score

Chestnut Hill, Mass. -- It was billed as the battle between the Shields sisters - BC's Kerri Shields and St. Joseph's Erin Shields - matched up in the second round of the WNIT at Conte Forum on Sunday afternoon.

Both sisters had a positive impact for their teams, but it was the presence of BC senior center Carolyn Swords that made the difference. Swords finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds to lead BC past the Hawks, 86-59, to advance to the third round of the tournament.

Swords needed just 13 points in the game to pass the 2,000-point plateau. And with 10:36 on the clock in the half, Swords hit two free throws to reach the mark and pass it with her second freebie. It also gave BC a 23-14 lead in the game.
