TAMPA, Fla. - The University of Tampa Spartans knocked off the No. 13 Barry University Buccaneers on Saturday afternoon by a 64-45 score. UT (12-3, 3-2 Sunshine State Conference) led by a point at the half, but limited the visitors to just 16 percent from the field in the second stanza to defeat a ranked opponent for the second time this season.

The Buccaneers (12-4, 3-2 SSC) led by as many as seven points in the first half behind a 42.9 percent performance from the field, but Tampa battled back to take the slim 26-25 margin into the locker room.

Kristy Singletary hit a three-point basket to hand the lead back to Barry just a minute in the second half. The lead changed three more times before the Spartans went on a 9-0 run and UT would never look back.

Tiara Cook led the assault in the second half for Tampa as she scored 13 of her game-high 20 points in the period. She also pulled down 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Kym Taylor and Gianna Messina added 11 points each while Messina was also good for seven rebounds.

Singletary was tops in scoring for Barry, finishing with 15 points on the day.
