March 14, 2009 - Mankato, MN - The Women's Basketball Team (30-3) move to the NCAA Finals of the Central Region on Monday March 16th by defeating the Warriors of Winona State.

With only 13 seconds left in regulation, the Skyhawks inbounded the ball and got to center court before FLC called a time out. A play was called that put the ball in the hands of Senior Erin Kerr on the right wing which allowed her to "take a shot she is very comfortable with" said Head Coach Kellogg. The ball found the bottom of the net tying the game at 61 with only 4.4 seconds left in the game. The Warriors didn't find any luck in their half court shot attempt.

"I wanted to carry the team, as a senior," Kerr said, she did just that scoring 9 out of the 14 points scored in the overtime period pushing her team to the NCAA Regional Final game on Monday.

The game was "great, great, great," Coach Kellogg said in the post game interview. Winona played a good game however the ambitions of Fort Lewis College made it a tough road to the end. Ana Wurtz of Winona scored 29 points in the game and seemed un-stoppable. With only 2 lead changes in the first half the game seemed very equal with the Skyhawks leading 32-30.

The second half proved to be more of a battle with 5 lead changes. Winona controlling the score for the majority of the second half and expanding the lead to 57-49 with only 7:06 to go in the game the Skyhawks started soaring. With 7 minutes to go the Skyhawks scored 7 unanswered points bringing them with in 1 point.

Allison Rosel proved her toughness down low scoring a double-double netting 16 points and rebounding the ball 13 times. Allison was a very tough player to stop tonight in the paint shooting 50% from the field and 75% from the charity stripe. Katie Mackey, also tough to stop tonight, scored 21 points for Skyhawks. The Skyhawks shot 48% from the field, 31% from beyond the arc, and 78% from line.
