CLEVELAND, Miss. -
The Delta State University Lady Statesmen (7-0) defense held the Wolves of West Georgia (1-7) to 19.6 percent shooting from the floor to defeat UWG 67-31, Saturday at Walter Sillers Coliseum.

DSU played solid defense in the first half, holding the Wolves to 9.1 percent shooting from the floor.

The Lady Statesmen jumped out to a 16 point lead with 13 minutes left in the first period on a layup by Bug Cooper. DSU would maintain control and take a 37-11 lead at the half.

The Lady Statesmen started the second half on a 15-8 run, after a jumper by Tamara Reed extended the lead to 52-19. DSU would remain in control the rest of the game to record the win 67-31.

Joncyee Sanders Paced the Lady Statesmen with 11 points while Moe Bell added 10 points. Cooper chipped in eight points and five boards in the victory. DSU outrebounded UWG 36-30.

Krystal Delph led UWG with 12 points in the loss for the Wolves.

The Lady Statesmen return to the court on December 12 as they face West Florida, Tipoff is set for 2 p.m..
