EDINBORO, Pa. – Edinboro native Tori Hansen returned home to lead West Liberty (25-6) to a 71-68 win against Millersville (22-7) in the opening game of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional quarterfinals. The Hilltoppers advance to play the winner of the Johnson C. Smith-Glenville State quarterfinal.

Hansen scored a game-high 25 points and pulled down 11 rebounds as West Liberty rallied from a seven-point deficit with 7 minutes to play. Her driving layup and ensuing free throw with 31 seconds left gave the Hilltoppers the lead for good at 68-65.

Millersville’s Mashira Newman would make one of two free throws to pull the Marauders within two at 68-66 with 27 seconds left, but Mattison Chilton boosted the West Liberty lead to four points at 70-66 with two free throws with 24 seconds to play.

Newman closed the gap to 70-68 with 18 seconds remaining when she hit two free throws, and Millersville had a chance to tie the game when Jenni Robbins missed the front end of a one-and-one at the 13-second mark.

Newman’s driving layup attempt was no good with 5 seconds to play, and Robbins closed out the win with a free throw with a second left.

Chilton came off the bench to add 14 points for West Liberty, with Robbins scoring 13 points and Jordan Stacey pulling down 12 rebounds.

Aurielle Mosley led Millersville with 19 points and 14 rebounds before fouling out late in the game. Newman also had 19 points, with Sophia Waters tossing in 13.
