GARLAND, Texas -- Robin Jones made a go-ahead jumper from the foul line with 33.3 seconds left, sending Prairie View A&M past rival Southern 48-44 Saturday to win the Southwestern Athletic Conference championship and snag a spot in the NCAA tournament.

The Lady Panthers (21-11) trailed 44-36 with 5:13 left, but didn't give up another point. Jones had been 0 for 6 before hitting what proved to be the winning shot.

Prairie View is headed to the tournament for the third time, all in the last five years. This trip comes in the first season under coach Toyelle Wilson.

The Lady Jaguars (20-11) led for the most of the second half. Their final possessions were a mess -- a turnover at the top of the key, a one-handed heave on a 3-point attempt and another try from long range that went well wide.
