WATERVILLE, Maine — U. of New England held No. 14 Colby scoreless for the opening three-plus minutes of overtime, and converted all 10 of its free throw attempts in the extra session to get a 70-63 upset win against the Mules.

In overtime both teams came up empty on their first two possessions. A pair of free throws from Kelley Paradis with 3:20 left gave the visitors a lead they would not relinquish.

UNE got two more free throws before a shot from deep by the Mules’ Jacky McLaughlin cut the margin to three (62-59) with 1:39 remaining in the game. The Nor’easters scored the next six points to put the game out-of-reach inside the final minute, and did not miss a shot attempt of any kind during the last 1:58 of overtime.

Paradis went for a game-best and season-high 26 points on 11-of-18 shooting from the field to lead the Nor’easters. Junior Beth Suggs registered her second double-double of the season, posting 14 points and a career-best 17 rebounds. Sophomore Lauren Rousseau added 14 points off the bench.
