GARDEN CITY, N.Y. — No. 20 Southern Connecticut State wrapped up its regular season with a 78-64 road victory against Adelphi on Tuesday night.
The Panthers got out to a quick roll in the first half, going up 17-10 within the first seven minutes of game.
Southern Connecticut took some time to get going but took the lead from the Panthers and lead by five points with four minutes left in the first half. Adelphi quickly regained the lead and slipped into the locker room with a two point lead against Southern Connecticut.
The Owls quickly came out firing in the second half and had built up a five-point lead with just under 12 minutes remaining in the game. SCSU built that lead up to 13 points with just five minutes remaining.
The Panthers tried to mount a comeback late but Southern Connecticut never let them back into the game. SCSU held at least a 10-point advantage during the final three minutes of action.
The Owls had three players with a double-figures in points. Camille Fantini led the squad, recording a double-double, 25 points and 11 boards. 17 out of the 25 points for Camille came within the second half. Fantini also added two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Sylvonya Moore chipped in 15 points, eight boards, three assists, two blocks and four steals. Mariah Hankton recorded 14 points, five assists and a team-high six steals off the bench for SCSU. Moni Smith-Ocran recorded a team-high 13 rebounds to go along with eight points.
SCSU finishes the regular season 22-4 on the season including a 19-3 mark in Northeast-10 Conference action.
