CHICAGO, Ill. –  For the third time in school history, Calvin is headed to the national quarterfinals. The Knights advanced with a 68-50 victory against second-ranked Chicago on Friday night.

Calvin (28-1) will face St. Thomas (Minn.) (29-1) in a national quarterfinal game on Saturday, while the Maroons were handed their first loss of the season.

In its win against Chicago, Calvin led 30-20 at halftime and then rebuilt a double-digit lead at 51-40 on a 3-pointer by Jill Thomas with six minutes to go and never looked back.

Calvin was led in scoring by Carissa Verkaik with 20 points while junior Ally Wolffis had 10 points. Julia Hilbrands had nine points off the bench while senior Courtney Kurncz had eight points.

Calvin shot 57.1 percent from the field including 50 percent (7-of-14) from 3-point range. Calvin is now 18-13 all-time in NCAA tournament place.
