LILBURN, Ga. – Already tied for the best start in team history with a 6-0 overall record, Limestone reached another significant milestone as they cracked the top 25 for the first time. The Saints checked in at No. 20 in the latest USA Today Top 25 Coaches’ Poll as announced by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association on Tuesday.

Limestone improved six spots in the poll over the past week following a pair of blowout wins over previously unbeaten Pfeiffer and conference unbeaten Belmont Abbey. In their first six games of the season, the Saints have recorded five wins by 21 or more points and three 30-point wins for an average margin of victory of 26.2 points per game. Their closest game of the season came in a 67-59 win against NAIA UVA-Wise during the Thanksgiving break.
Ashland remained the top-ranked team in the nation and garnered all 31 first votes while Bentley stood fast at No. 2. Southeast region foes USC Aiken and Clayton State each jumped a spot to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively, while Indianapolis checked in at No. 5. Limestone is the only other Southeast Region team and the only Conference Carolinas squad to be represented in the top 25.
The Saints pulled in 164 points in the latest poll, narrowly edging Emporia State, which came in at No. 21 with 161 total votes. They trail No. 19 Nova Southeastern by a total of 12 votes. Rollins, Central Missouri, Wisconsin-Parkside, and Colorado Mesa rounded out the top 25 while Edinboro, Assumption and Wingate all dropped out of the coaches poll.
