YORK, Pa. — Richard Stockton (6-3) used a strong second-half performance to hand No. 11 York (Pa.) (11-1) its first loss of the season on Saturday, winning 61-51. Sara Farrell led the Ospreys with a career-high 16 points and nine rebounds followed by Che’Na Thompson with 15 points. Farrell shot 7-10 from the field and also blocked a game-high three shots.
Injuries left the Ospreys shorthanded, but they pulled the upset using six players who all saw at least 23 minutes of action. Tiana Cannon led everyone with 11 rebounds to go along with nine points and Jennifer Galamb chipped in with career highs of seven points and two assists.
The first half of play included five ties and two lead changes. The Ospreys fell behind 7-0 in the first 2:26, but regrouped and eventually forged a tie at 29 going into the break. Thompson led a balanced attack with six points while Cannon got 10 rebounds and four points in the half.
Stockton shot 56.5 percent from the field in the second half and outscored previously-unbeaten York 32-22. Farrell and Thompson hit two buckets apiece as the Ospreys used a 15-3 run during a span of 6:21 to take control of the game. Stockton led 58-47 after Alex Nardoza capped the spurt with a fastbreak layup at the 3:37 mark, and the Ospreys knocked off York 61-51.
