Thomas More's Sydney Moss is turning DIII basketball on its head
NAME: Sydney Moss
HOMETOWN: St. Albans, W.Va.

Aside from her talents, she is also the daughter of former NFL player Randy Moss.
Q: What do you love about basketball?
Having fun, I really like the game and seeing my teammates smile while we play.
Q: How has it been playing for Thomas More this season?
It has been pretty fun. I have gotten to travel to a lot of new places. I had never been to Pennsylvania, and we are playing there. It has been fun, but tough. I have enjoyed learning my teammates.
Q: How does it feel to have the kind of success you have had this year?
Good, but my team has done well. I like seeing them excited that we are doing so well.
Q: What was it like playing at Florida?
It had its ups and downs. We were able to travel a lot and we had a private plane which was nice, not like how we drive five or six hours now. It was different than Division III because it was fast-paced.
Q: What are your goals this season?
My goal would be to win the Presidents' Athletic Conference* and a national title. I have to take it day-by-day and not jump ahead, but eventually we would like to earn a national championship.
Q: What are your goals in life?
Eventually I would like to be a college coach. I would like to play in the WNBA or overseas and have that experience.
Q: What is it like being the daughter of an NFL player?
It has its positives and negatives. Positively, it’s where I get my athletic ability, even though my mom and grandfather are also athletes. We also got to travel a lot when I was growing up. It forced me out of my comfort zone because I attended a lot of schools and met a lot of different people. Negatively, I feel like I am under his spotlight. We have an on-and-off relationship.
Q: Who is your favorite player?
Kobe Bryant. I like that he has the mindset of domination and his embodiment of Black Mamba. Once an opposing player called me “Baby LeBron” and I just died laughing.
Q: Do you enjoy playing near your hometown?
Yes, because we have a lot of family friends near. I like seeing familiar faces in the stands and getting a hug after the game.
Q: Do you play any other sports?
I played golf for Thomas More during one meet in the fall. I played when I was younger and was at one time No. 3 in the state. The golf coach discovered this and they needed to fill a spot and asked if I could take it over. I shot a 120, and I wasn’t the worst one out there, which was my goal. And I met some cool girls while doing it. I do not think I will be playing again though, they permanently filled that spot.
*Thomas More defeated Washington & Jefferson on March 1 to claim the program's eighth consecutive PAC title.
