HUNTSVILLE, Texas – Arkansas State remained undefeated after the second day of competition the Kat Klash hosted by Sam Houston State on Saturday.

The Red Wolves opened the day with a victory over Sam Houston State (1,192-1,145) and then defeated Monmouth (991-891). A-State then defeated Vanderbilt (1,082-960), Mississippi Valley State (912-766) and Alabama State (929-857) to finish the day 5-0 and remain perfect in the tournament.
“Overall I am pleased with how we played today,” ASU bowling coach Justin Kostick said. “We have been bowling really well in throughout the tournament and tomorrow we have a chance to finish against some really strong competition.”
In the total pinfall count, A-State holds a 47-pin lead on host Sam Houston State. The Red Wolves have a two-day total of 9,310, while the Bearkatz have a total of 9,263. Vanderbilt is third with a total 9,169 followed by Nebraska with a total of 8,995.
Amanda Labossierre finished fourth in the individual standings after bowling for a 219.6 average in the tournament. Rachael Gittings was seventh overall with a 214.6 average and Ashley Rucker with a 203.4 average.
The tournament will conclude on Sunday with bracket play in a best-of-seven format in baker play.
