WICKLIFFE, Ohio — Maryland-Eastern Shore became the first team since Nebraska in 2004-05 to successfully defend a national championship Saturday. The Hawks defeated Farleigh Dickinson 4-2 at Freeway Lanes.

With the win, UMES head coach Kristina Frahm becomes the first person to win national titles as both a player and a head coach.

UMES also tied Nebraska with the most bowling national championships by any team since the sport became sanctioned by the NCAA.The Hawks now have three titles to match the Huskers, all in the past five years.
