RUDD RUNS FOR IT: Wisconsin-La Crosse's Julia Rudd won the Roy Griak Invitational individual title on Sept. 24, leading the Eagles to the team championship.

Rudd won the 6,000-meter race in a Griak record time of 21:56, finishing first out of 279 runners, as she garnered Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors.

The senior from Oshkosh, Wis., also earned the WIAC weekly award on Sept. 13 after winning the Luther College (Iowa) All-American Invitational and helping the Eagles to a first-place finish.

DOUBLE TROUBLE: Both the Chico State No. 4 men's and No. 3 women's cross country teams earned second-place finishes at the Stanford Invitational on Sept. 24 as the Wildcats beat out several Division I programs.

On the men's side, sophomore Scott Bauhs placed eighth with a time of 24:04 in the 8,000-meter race to finish at the top Division II runner. The native of Danville, Calif., was selected California Collegiate Athletic Association Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for his efforts.

Senior Katie Lee, also from Danville, placed 17th of 227 runners in the 6,000-meter race with a time of 22:15. Lee, who was the top Division II runner in the event, was named CCAA Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week.

NO SOPHOMORE SLUMP: Abilene Christian sophomore Nicodemus Naimadu won his second race of the season as he captured the Great American Cross Country Festival title on Sept. 24.

Naimadu, the defending NCAA Division II national champion, ran the 8,000-meter race in 23:59.60 to help the No. 2 Wildcats to a third-place finish behind William & Mary and Virginia in field of Division I teams.

ACU had three runners in the top eight of the Nike Race of Champions division with teammates Serge Gasore placing seventh (24:24.30) and Philip Birgen finishing eighth (24:24.70).

NICE FINISH: Mindy Sawtelle of Indiana University (Pa.) earned Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week honors after taking second at the Penn State's Spike Shoe Invitational hosted by Penn State on Sept. 24.

Sawtelle ran the 6,000-meter course in a time of 21:33 just nine seconds behind Yale's Lindsay Donaldson. She helped IUP earned a second-place team finish in a field of 17 squads.

Indiana (Pa.) jumped to No. 13 in the latest national rankings by the Division II Cross Country Coaches Association with the performance.

NOTABLE: No. 20 Colorado-Colorado Springs men's team placed five runners in the first 11 spots as the Mountain Lions won the Colorado College Invitational on Sept. 24. UCCS's Brad Winn and Aaron Rubalcaba-Lopez finished second and third, respectively, in the meet ¦ The Wayne State (Mich.) men's team won its third straight meet at the Cross Country Only Nationals in Edwardsville, Ill., on Sept. 24 as Justin Kessler captured his second individual title of the year with a time of 25:49 in the 8K race ¦ Seattle Pacific's Meredith Crane earned Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's runner of the week after setting a course record at the Saint Martin's Invitational on Sept. 24. Crane, a junior from Yakima, Wash., won the 5K race in a time of 17:33.
